Hello This is a Test

Thursday Devo

Scripture:

1 Peter 4
4 Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you. 5 But remember that they will have to face God, who stands ready to judge everyone, both the living and the dead.

Commentary:

4:3–4 living in sensuality … drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. The lives of unbelievers have not fundamentally changed from the first century to the twenty-first; believers should have nothing to do with such behavior, even when their nonparticipation means that others will malign them.
4:5 Unbelievers do not have the last word; they will give account and face God’s judgment.

Questions:

  • Unbelievers will eventually be judged. Their day is coming! They will all stand before Jesus, the just and righteous Judge. This is our message to an unbelieving world. The fourth proof from Sunday that you are the real deal is that you are ready to PREACH both the GOOD news and the BAD. What is the bad news? Romans 3:23 and 6:23... We have all sinned and fallen short of God's glorious standard, and the wages of that sin is death. BUT!! There is good news! Romans 5:8 and 10:9... Christ died for sinners, and if you confess that He is Lord and believe God raised Him from the dead, you can be saved. This is the Roman Road, a simple and accurate way to present the Gospel to someone. Have you ever memorized the Roman Road? If not, take some time in the next couple of days and commit these short verses to memory!

  • As believers, we should be ready to preach the truth of the gospel of Jesus at any time and to anyone. Who in your life needs to hear the truth? Make a list of names today and pray over them. Will you look for opportunities to share with them?

Pray:

  • That God would give you a burden for the lost.
  • That God would give you opportunities to share with those that need to hear the gospel.

This Week's City 7:

Try to commit to memory!

3. Why did Jesus have to die on the cross? Since “all have sinned” and the “wages of sin is death,” Jesus had to die on the cross to pay the fine for my sin so I could be right with God.
