Hello This is a Test

Wednesday Devo

Scripture:

1 Peter 4
4 Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you. 5 But remember that they will have to face God, who stands ready to judge everyone, both the living and the dead.

Commentary:

4:3–4 living in sensuality … drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. The lives of unbelievers have not fundamentally changed from the first century to the twenty-first; believers should have nothing to do with such behavior, even when their nonparticipation means that others will malign them.
4:5 Unbelievers do not have the last word; they will give account and face God’s judgment.

Questions:

  • The third proof from Sunday that you are a real deal Christian is that you're ready for NEW... new PLAYGROUNDS and new PLAYMATES. The true believer stops hanging out with people that threaten to pull them away from God. Some of us that are believers need to make some of our friends "former" friends. Does that mean you can't be friends with nonbelievers? No, but it does mean that these friends are no longer in your inner circle. When you look at the people you hang out with, do you need to make some changes? Are your close friendships ones that might threaten the strength of your faith? Does something need to change?

  • True Christians are also ones ready for new PLAYGROUNDS. Just like our inner circle of friends should change, the places we hang out should change as well. Are you still going places and doing certain activities that could threaten to pull you away from God? Are you putting yourself in unnecessarily difficult situations because of the places you go and the things that you do?

Pray:

  • That you would let God show you if you need to move certain friends out of your inner circle.
  • That you would let God show you if some of your playgrounds are to your detriment.

This Week's City 7:

Try to commit to memory!

3. Why did Jesus have to die on the cross? Since “all have sinned” and the “wages of sin is death,” Jesus had to die on the cross to pay the fine for my sin so I could be right with God.
(Romans 3:23, 5:8, 6:21-23, 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 2:1-6; Colossians 1:13-14, 21-22)
