Hello This is a Test

Scripture:

John 10
27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.

Commentary:

10:26–29 Those who belong to Jesus’ flock (i.e., those who are chosen by him) are those who believe. The reason people do not believe is because they are not part of Jesus’ flock, implying that God must first give them the ability to believe and make them part of his people with a new heart (see 1:13; 6:44). Eternal life (10:28) by definition can never be taken away (see note on 6:40), especially when Jesus’ sheep belong to him and to his Father. Snatch in 10:28 and 29 denotes the use of force (see note on v. 1). Note the contrast with the “hired hand” in vv. 12–13 who abandons the flock in times of danger (cf. Isa. 43:13).

Questions:

  • Once we say YES to Jesus and we are instantaneously justified and adopted, God begins the process of SANCTIFICATION in our lives. SANCTIFICATION is a progressive work of God and man that makes us more and more free from sin and like Christ. This is the slow, gradual, life-long weeding out of sin in our lives as God takes those things out of us that don't please Him and gives us gifts of His Spirit... love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control. Which of these gifts are you most lacking?

  • If you are allowing the Holy Spirit to do these things in your own heart, you should be in a different place with the Lord today than you were a year ago. Is that true for you? What are some specific ways God has grown you in the past year or two?

Pray:

  • That you would be growing continually in your faith.
  • That God would add to you gifts from the Holy Spirit.

This Week's City 7:

Try to commit to memory!

5. Why do I follow Jesus? I follow Jesus because Jesus rose from the dead proving that He is the way, the truth and the life.
(Matthew 7:24-27; John 14:6)
