Hello This is a Test

Tuesday Devo

Scripture:

Acts 22
6 “As I was on the road, approaching Damascus about noon, a very bright light from heaven suddenly shone down around me. 7 I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ 8 “ ‘Who are you, lord?’ I asked. “And the voice replied, ‘I am Jesus the Nazarene, the one you are persecuting.’ 9 The people with me saw the light but didn’t understand the voice speaking to me. 10 “I asked, ‘What should I do, Lord?’ “And the Lord told me, ‘Get up and go into Damascus, and there you will be told everything you are to do.’ 11 “I was blinded by the intense light and had to be led by the hand to Damascus by my companions. 12 A man named Ananias lived there. He was a godly man, deeply devoted to the law, and well regarded by all the Jews of Damascus. 13 He came and stood beside me and said, ‘Brother Saul, regain your sight.’ And that very moment I could see him!

Commentary:

22:6 The light from heaven is the brightness of God’s glory (cf. 26:13), as in Ezek. 1:26–28 and Rev. 1:16.
22:12–14 For his Jewish hearers, Paul stressed the piety of Ananias: he kept the law strictly and was respected by all the Jews.

Questions:

  • The first component of Paul's apologia was the conduct before the conversion. The second is the CIRCUMSTANCES of his conversion. Paul had a singular moment in time when he met Jesus and his life was forever changed. God stopped him in his tracks and set his life in a whole new direction. Has He done that for you? Think back to your conversion experience. Take a few minutes today and thank God that He saved you and set your life in a new direction.

  • Paul asked two very important questions. These two questions are central to our relationship with Jesus as well. First, he asked, "Who are you, Lord?" Each of us must also meet our Savior. But then he asked, "What should I do, Lord?" Once we know Him, we are to get to work obeying Him. Spend some time praying that God would show you what He'd have you do today for Him. Keep the lines of communication open and see what assignment He might have for you.

Prayer Topics:

  • Thank God that you are saved by grace.
  • Pray that He would show you how to be obedient to Him today.

This Week's City 7:

Try to commit to memory!

1. Who is Jesus? I believe Jesus is God because Jesus said He is God and proved it by rising from the dead and appearing to His disciples, His brother James, 500 others at one time, and Paul.
