Hello This is a Test

Tuesday Devo

Scripture:

1 Chronicles 17
16 Then King David went in and sat before the Lord and prayed,
“Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? 17 And now, O God, in addition to everything else, you speak of giving your servant a lasting dynasty! You speak as though I were someone very great, O Lord God!
18 “What more can I say to you about the way you have honored me? You know what your servant is really like. 19 For the sake of your servant, O Lord, and according to your will, you have done all these great things and have made them known.

Commentary:

17:16 David’s marveling over God’s grace prefigures the marveling over the grace that has come in Christ (John 1:16; Eph. 2:7–9).

Questions:

  • In 1 Chronicles chapter 17, David is moved and overwhelmed by all that God has done for him. God made the first move! He came to us! He went first! God GAVE His ALL. So, we live and give in light of the fact that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. We surrender to the One who loved us first. Plainly put, we live and give in light of the gospel. God gave His all, so we give our all back to Him.  How important is it to keep the gospel at the forefront of our minds and attitudes, and how might our lives look different if we did?

  • All of us, no matter our circumstances, have lives that are FULL of blessings that come from God. Think about your life and all that God has given you or done for you. When was the last time you thanked Him? How easy is it to take the things God has done for you for granted?

Prayer Topics:

  • That you would give your all to God because He gave His all for you.
  • That you would look for opportunities to give God thanks.

This Week's City 7:

Try to commit to memory!

2. Are there sources outside the Bible that confirm the Biblical account of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead? Many Roman and Jewish historians have confirmed that the apostles died as martyrs for preaching that they saw Jesus risen from the grave. No one dies for something they know to be a lie.
(Luke 1:1-4; Acts 26:26; 1 John 1:1-4, Josephus, Clement, Hegesippus, Tertullian, Origen, Polycarp)
