Scripture:
Romans 1
18 But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19 They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. 20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

Commentary:
1:18 The wrath of God refers to his personal anger against sin. God’s anger is not selfish or arbitrary but represents his holy and loving response to human wickedness. Some have understood God’s wrath in impersonal cause-effect terms, but that would be a deistic worldview rather than a biblical one.
1:19–20 God’s wrath is expressed for good reason since his power and divine nature are clearly revealed through the world he has made, and yet he is rejected by all people. These verses show that salvation does not come through “general revelation” (what is known about God through the natural world) since Paul emphasizes the universality of sin and concludes that “no one seeks for God” (3:11). things that have been made. The entire natural world bears witness to God through its beauty, complexity, design, and usefulness. without excuse. No one should complain that God has left insufficient evidence of his existence and character; the fault is with those who reject the evidence.

Questions:
- The first takeaway Sunday was the "Conversion of the guy who has NEVER heard." God reached Cornelius before he heard the gospel. He has revealed himself to all people through the glory of His creation and through man's own conscience. Romans 1 says that all men are without excuse. This is called "general revelation", which isn't enough to save. Someone must have a special revelation of Christ, which is why God sent Peter to Cornelius to preach the gospel of Jesus. This still happens today where we often see Muslims in Islamic nations having visions of Jesus. The bottom line is, there is no place and no one God cannot reach! Is there someone in YOUR life that you fell God can't reach? How often are you praying that their eyes would be opened to the truth?
- The second takeaway was the "Conversion of the guy who has heard it ALL." Not only was Cornelius' heart changed, but Peter's was as well. These visions described in Acts 10 weren't about changing Peter's diet; they were about changing Peter's heart. It was about God establishing a community of believers AND a basis for evangelism to Gentiles, which makes the Great Commission possible. Peter's heart was converted to Jesus' agenda. Where does YOUR heart not line up with His agenda? Are you satisfied with "American Christianity" or are you hungry for more?
Pray:
- That God would reach the impossible people in your life.
- That you would stay hungry for more of Jesus and His ways.
This Week's City 7:
Try to commit to memory!
1. Who is Jesus? I believe Jesus is God because Jesus said He is God and proved it by rising from the dead and appearing to His disciples, His brother James, 500 others at one time, and Paul.
