Hello This is a Test

Tuesday Devo

Scripture:

Luke 4:8-10
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of our people, 9 are we being questioned today because we’ve done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed? 10 Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.

Commentary:

4:8 filled with the Holy Spirit, said. Cf. Luke 12:11–12.
4:10 whom you crucified. As he had accused the Jews in his two temple sermons (2:23; 3:15), Peter now accused the Sanhedrin judges of their role in Jesus’ death and pointed to the divine power that had raised him from the dead.

Questions:

  • This Acts 4 version of Peter and John is quite a bit different than what we saw in the gospels, especially through the arrest, trial, and death of Jesus. Much had changed! They were FIRM in their faith, because they had seen Jesus alive with their own eyes. They were FAITHFUL and obedient to the message of the Gospel and to speaking the truth. They were FEARLESS in the face of danger. They were FILLED afresh with the power of the Holy Spirit. Do all four of these attributes also describe YOUR life? If not, which ones are lacking?

  • Peter has now gone from courtyard, staying warm by the fire, denying he knew Jesus to a little girl, to now INSIDE, filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit, confronting the men that killed Jesus face to face. that is an incredible transformation. Think about the transformation that YOUR saving faith has brought into your life. Take some time to reflect on what God has done in your life and how he has changed you, and spend a few minutes thanking God for how he's worked in you.

Prayer Topics:

  • That you would continue to grow in your faith.
  • That your life would resemble that of the apostles.
