Hello This is a Test

Friday Devo

Scripture:

Acts 2:40-41
40 Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!”
41 Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.

Commentary:

2:40 many other words. Luke was able to provide only a small portion of Peter’s sermon.
2:41 The three thousand converts at Pentecost were added to the initial body of 120 believers.

Questions:

  • The gospel must be PREACHED! Romans 10 tells us that people need to hear the gospel in order to respond to it, and they can't hear it unless someone tells them. Peter took a public stand despite the cost because the message was just that important. How public is YOUR faith? Do you take a bold, public stand for Jesus by the way you live your life, or do you lack boldness?

  • Verse 40 tells us that Peter was strongly urging and passionately pleading with all who were listening. He had a passion for seeing those who didn't know Jesus come to a believing faith in him. Passion for the gospel is something lacking in the lives of many Christians. How passionate are you about sharing your faith? When was the last time you were passionately pleading or strongly urging someone to turn to Jesus? Who in your life needs to hear?

Prayer Topics:

  • That your faith would be public.
  • That you would be passionate about sharing your faith.

This Week's City 7:

Try to commit to memory!

2. Are there sources outside the Bible that confirm the Biblical account of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead? Many Roman and Jewish historians have confirmed that the apostles died as martyrs for preaching that they saw Jesus risen from the grave. No one dies for something they know to be a lie.
