Hello This is a Test

Scripture:

Matthew 28:18-20
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Commentary:

28:18 All authority. In his risen state, Jesus exercises absolute authority throughout heaven and earth, which shows his deity. His authority has been given by the Father, which indicates that he remains subject to the Father (see note on 1 Cor. 15:28).
28:19 The imperative (make disciples, that is, call individuals to commit to Jesus as Master and Lord) explains the central focus of the Great Commission, while the Greek participles (translated go, baptizing, and “teaching” [v. 20]) describe aspects of the process. all nations. Jesus’ ministry in Israel was to be the beginning point of what would later be a proclamation of the gospel to all the peoples of the earth, including not only Jews but also Gentiles. The name (singular, not plural) of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is an early indication of the Trinitarian Godhead and an overt proclamation of Jesus’ deity.
28:20 Teaching is a means by which disciples of Jesus are continually transformed in order to become more like Christ (cf. 10:24–25; Rom. 8:29; 2 Cor. 3:18). observe. Obey. I am with you always. Jesus concludes the commission, and Matthew his Gospel, with the crucial element of discipleship: the presence of the Master, who is “God with us” (cf. Matt. 1:23).

Questions:

  • The next takeaway was that God has a worldwide mission and we should join him. In Matthew 28, Jesus gave his final command... to GO and make disciples of ALL NATIONS. We are all invited! We are part of it and we get to participate in it. How does your life measure up to this command by Jesus to "GO"? What are you doing to answer the call?

  • We should ALL pray about GOING to tell people about Jesus where He isn’t known. If you aren’t willing to do that, then fund and pray and support people that DO go. Support church planters globally. Jesus’ redemption and awaiting restoration is so compelling its worth giving our lives to! Jesus is worth it. He’s our only hope, but He’s the only hope of the nations. Join Him in it! Are you willing to ask God if YOU should go? If not, why not? Besides giving to The City, who supports missionaries around the world, what is something MORE you could do to support God's mission on the earth?

Pray:

  • That we would be obedient the the command of Jesus.
  • That we would be willing to ask the question of God, "Should I go?"

This Week's City 7:

Try to commit to memory!

6. Is the Bible God’s Word? Jesus proved He is God by rising from the dead and said the Old Testament was God’s Word and gave authority to the Apostles to write the words of the New Testament, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, so that all the words of the Bible are God’s Word.
