Hello This is a Test

Friday Devo

Scripture:

2 Corinthians 5:20
20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

Commentary:

ambassadors for Christ. Paul is sent as God’s prophetic minister of the new covenant (2 Cor. 3:4–6) to announce God’s “peace treaty” (cf. Isa. 53:5) with those who will trust in Christ to free them from the penalty and power of sin (2 Cor. 5:14–15; see Isa. 52:6–10; Rom. 10:15). “Be reconciled to God” is a summary of the gospel message Paul proclaims to unbelievers; it is a call to receive the reconciliation that God has wrought (Rom. 5:11).

Questions:

  • The big idea from Sunday was, "Always be on MISSION." This is the starting point to sharing your faith. It's step one. Whenever you are hanging out with someone in your life that needs Jesus, that is your cue to go into that situation ready to watch and listen. While you're talking, in the back of your mind you are waiting for an opportunity to gently turn the conversation. You would be amazed at how many opportunities God will give you if you just look for them. And he will also be there for you when you do decide to speak. He won't leave you hanging! Do you have a time coming up like this where you can put this into practice? If not, can you plan something?

  • The challenges for this series were to (1) invite someone to church, (2) pray for someone, (3) share your story, and (4) take Discover 101 during midweek. Which of these steps do you need to take today? What is holding you back?

Pray:

  •  That God would give you opportunities to share Jesus, and that you would be obedient to step through the open door.
  • That you would continue to take steps towards being a disciple that makes disciples.

This Week's City 7:

Try to commit to memory!

2. Are there sources outside the Bible that confirm the Biblical account of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead? Many Roman and Jewish historians have confirmed that the apostles died as martyrs for preaching that they saw Jesus risen from the grave. No one dies for something they know to be a lie.
