Scripture:
2 Kings 23:25
25 Never before had there been a king like Josiah, who turned to the Lord with all his heart and soul and strength, obeying all the laws of Moses. And there has never been a king like him since.
25 Never before had there been a king like Josiah, who turned to the Lord with all his heart and soul and strength, obeying all the laws of Moses. And there has never been a king like him since.
Commentary:
23:25 In spite of several generations of idolatry and rebellion against the Lord, somehow Josiah arose as a righteous king who not only appeared outwardly to be righteous but turned to the Lord with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses.
Questions:
- The big idea Sunday was that your history doesn't determine your legacy, and neither does your lineage. No matter what you've done in your past or how many times you've gone the wrong way, God can still rewrite your story. Even if your own family history looks a little like Josiah's, full of people that have run from God, your lineage can change with you. Where you come from doesn’t have to determine where you’re going. Have you ever considered the fact that you can be the one to change your family tree and set your family's legacy on a different course? What do you need to change no in order to accomplish this?
- Jesus bloodline was full of the overlooked and those who messed up big time. And now we’ve been invited into that bloodline as God's adopted sons and daughters. How amazing it is that we serve a God that is all about redemption and restoration! What will your legacy be?
Pray:
- That you would be the one to change your legacy.
- That you would seek to leave a godly legacy.
This Week's City 7:
Try to commit to memory!
4. Can a person be good enough to go to heaven? No. Because Jesus rose from the dead proving He is God, I believe a person is saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
