Hello This is a Test

Scripture:

2 Chronicles 35:1-6
Then Josiah announced that the Passover of the Lord would be celebrated in Jerusalem, and so the Passover lamb was slaughtered on the fourteenth day of the first month. 2 Josiah also assigned the priests to their duties and encouraged them in their work at the Temple of the Lord. 3 He issued this order to the Levites, who were to teach all Israel and who had been set apart to serve the Lord: “Put the holy Ark in the Temple that was built by Solomon son of David, the king of Israel. You no longer need to carry it back and forth on your shoulders. Now spend your time serving the Lord your God and his people Israel. 4 Report for duty according to the family divisions of your ancestors, following the directions of King David of Israel and the directions of his son Solomon. 5 “Then stand in the sanctuary at the place appointed for your family division and help the families assigned to you as they bring their offerings to the Temple. 6 Slaughter the Passover lambs, purify yourselves, and prepare to help those who come. Follow all the directions that the Lord gave through Moses.”

Commentary:

35:1 the first month. The regular month for celebration (Num. 28:16), in contrast to Hezekiah’s delayed observance (2 Chron. 30:2).
35:1 The keeping of the Passover is another high point in serving God.
35:3–6 Put the holy ark in the house that Solomon … built (v. 3). The ark may have been removed during the reigns of Manasseh and Amon, or in the course of Josiah’s renovation works. Josiah directs the Levites in their new duties of slaughtering and skinning the Passover lambs (see v. 11).

Questions:

  • Josiah didn't just remove the idols, he remembered the one, true God. He resumed the celebration of Passover, which was to remind God's people of when he delivered them from Egypt. Remembering is a huge part of our faith. Throughout scripture we see that when God did something big, people would build an alter there or set up a few stones. Then they would give that place a name, all to remind them of the great thing God did. How quick are you to give God recognition and glory for things he does in your life?

  • Remembering things God did in the past strengthens your faith by reminding you God is faithful, and it helps you pass on your faith to others by re-telling your story. What have been the biggest faith-building moments of your life?  What are the things God has done in YOUR life that you need to remember and share?

Pray:

  • That you would be quick to give God glory.
  • That you would remember what God has done and share it with others.

This Week's City 7:

Try to commit to memory!

4. Can a person be good enough to go to heaven? No. Because Jesus rose from the dead proving He is God, I believe a person is saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
