Scripture:
Hebrews 11:8-10
8 It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. 9 And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith—for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise. 10 Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.

Study:
- God had HUGE plans for Abraham. There’s no way that Abraham could’ve fully comprehended what lay ahead of him, just beyond his “yes.” The same is true in our lives. One of the greatest enemies of faith is the familiar. We will never truly realize what God has in store for us until we break out of the familiar and step out in faithful obedience to Him. What might God be leading you toward that you have resisted?
- In Hebrews 11, faith is defined as "confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." Sometimes, in order to go with God, we must set aside the things we see, feel and think and choose to trust in a God we cannot see and outcomes we cannot foresee. Many of us choose safety over obedience and miss out on incredible things God wants to do in us and through us. In what areas of your life have you opted for safety and comfort instead of stepping out in faith and trusting God?
Pray:
- That you would choose to follow God, wherever it may lead you.
- That you would choose faith over comfort.
This Week's City 7:
Try to commit to memory!
5. Why do I follow Jesus? I follow Jesus because Jesus rose from the dead proving that He is the way, the truth and the life.
