Fast 2023 - Day 4

Scripture Reading:

Matthew 21:22
22 You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.”

Commentary:

There is a correlation between those who have faith and the time they spend in prayer.  When we spend time with God, our relationship with Him grows.  We become more confident in who He is, and we are more confident in our identity as His sons and daughters.

Believers with the most impact were and are people of prayer.  From the early disciples until today, those who have had the most impact for the Church and the Kingdom of God have been persons of prayer.  There is a correlation between the time they spent with God and the strength of their faith.

A prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian.  You cannot afford to be too busy to pray.  Jesus spent many hours in prayer.  He prayed daily, but also stepped up his prayer time before making big decisions and while in crucial life situations.  If He felt that He had to pray, how much more do we need to pray?

Questions For Reflection:

1. Am I too busy to pray?
2. Where can I add in my schedule times to pray?  How can I remind myself to do this?
(phone reminders, to do list, prayer with groups)

Prayer:

God, I want to grow in my relationship with you.  I want to draw nearer to you through being a person who comes to you consistently in prayer.  I see how you significantly used Christians throughout history who prayed.  Today I pray for my family (pray for your family by name and ask that they would get encouragement from God today).

This Week's City 7:

Try to commit to memory!

4. Can a person be good enough to go to heaven? No. Because Jesus rose from the dead proving He is God, I believe a person is saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
