This Week's City 7:
Encourage everyone to commit to memory this week!
5. Why do I follow Jesus? I follow Jesus because Jesus rose from the dead proving that He is the way, the truth and the life.

Ice-Breaker:
What has God been saying to you so far through ProjectONE and the story of Abraham?
Discussion Questions:
- In Genesis 12, we see Abraham’s faith start to slip. He questions whether or not God is capable of protecting him. We all have these highs and lows in our walk with the Lord. We have mountaintop experiences where our faith is at an all-time high, but just as quickly we can find ourselves hopeless in a pit of doubt and despair. Reflect on some of those high faith moments where you thought God could do anything. What was it that led to these moments?
- The first lesson we learned from this weekend was that trusting the ONE will involve the TESTING of your faith. God was testing Abraham’s faith right after he had decided to go God’s way in chapter 12. God will always test us in order to give us opportunities to grow. Faith works like a muscle. In order to strengthen it, it must be strained and broken down. Then, when it grows back and recovers, it’s stronger. What have been some of the biggest faith-testers in your life? Through which situations has God grown your faith in Him the most?
- Next, we learned that trusting the ONE will involve the EXERCISING of your faith. It took over 25 years to see God's promise of a son come to fruition. That was a LOT of time for Abraham's faith to be tested and put into practice. God will often push our faith to the brink. Abraham had to feel his helplessness in the face of sterility and Sarah's barrenness to fully surrender Himself to God and His promises. God is serious about teaching us to live by faith. But faith isn’t faith until it’s acted upon. When was the last time you really stepped out in faith? How often are you taking risks for Him?
- Trusting the ONE will involve the POSITIONING of your faith. In chapter 15, we see Abraham ask God why it’s taking so long for him to receive his promised son. God answers him with a covenant. God promises in blood to keep up His end of the bargain, whether Abraham does or not. He makes Himself responsible for BOTH sides of the covenant. When you mess up, He stays committed. What does it do for your faith and confidence in God to know that no matter how badly you stumble, you can always get up and press on because God’s commitment to you never changes? Is there a mistake that you need to get up and move on from?
- Finally, trusting the ONE will involve the REWARDING of your faith. When we trust God with bold faith, He comes through. But He can only multiply what we give Him in faith. The bottom line is this… living for something bigger than ourselves means learning to live by FAITH. What is keeping you from living by faith in your own life? What are you holding back from God, refusing to surrender? Where is He asking you to trust and obey so that He might multiply?
Prayer Topics:
- That you would be willing to grow your faith through the testing of your faith.
- That you would always be looking for ways to step out in faith.
- That you would hold nothing back from God.
