This Week's City 7:
4. Can a person be good enough to go to heaven? No. Because Jesus rose from the dead proving He is God, I believe a person is saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.

Ice-Breaker:
What are you most excited about with ProjectONE and where God is leading us as a church?
Discussion Questions:
- In Genesis 11, we see most of humanity turning their backs on God. The Tower of Babel symbolized peoples’ rejection of God, their declaration of independence from him, and their choosing to worship idols instead. This was a very dark age. But there was one family line that stayed faithful to God; it’s the line of Shem that eventually leads to Abraham. In Genesis 12, God promises Abraham that, though he is childless, He will give him many descendants. He will make him the father of a great nation of people who will worship Yahweh. Put yourself in Abraham’s shoes. How would you receive this news? What thoughts might be going through your mind in the face of the impossible? How would you have responded?
- But this promise from God had a condition… Abraham had to leave it all and trust God, not fully knowing where he was going or what lay ahead. God said, “Go!” Abraham said, “Where?” And God answered, “I’ll show you later.” Has there been time in your life when you were in a similar situation, having to trust God with outcomes that were out of your control? When was the last time your faith was tested in this way?
- One challenge that we can pull from Abraham’s call is, “Coming IN to your calling means coming OUT of your comfort zone.” Rarely do we grow in our faith when we are comfortable. Being in a safe place, where you feel like you have everything under control, doesn't really require a lot of trust in God. Is there a situation in your life right now that might require you to sacrifice your comfort in order to be obedient to God? Do you truly feel you are willing to put everything on the table and say YES to him if he leads you to something more?
- God had HUGE plans for Abraham. There’s no way that Abraham could’ve fully comprehended what lay ahead of him, just beyond his “yes.” The same is true in our lives. One of the greatest enemies of faith is the familiar. We will never truly realize what God has in store for us until we break out of the familiar and step out in faithful obedience to Him. What might God be leading you toward that you have resisted? In what areas of your life have you opted for safety and comfort instead of stepping out in faith and trusting God?
- ProjectONE is going to take ALL of us stepping out in faith and getting uncomfortable. One of the ways God will challenge us to step away from comfort is by leading us to fully trust Him with our finances. Living FOR something bigger often means giving ourselves TO something bigger. Why do you think fully surrendering our finances to God is so difficult for us? Has there been a time in your life when you stepped out in faith with your finances and God proved Himself faithful?
Prayer Topics:
- That we would pray for God to do impossible things in your life.
- That we would stay willing to be uncomfortable and obedient.
- That we would fully surrender to God, even in our finances.
