Scripture Reading:
Luke 11:23-26
“Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me.
24 “When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, searching for rest. But when it finds none, it says, ‘I will return to the person I came from.’ 25 So it returns and finds that its former home is all swept and in order. 26 Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before.”

Commentary from the ESV Study Bible:
11:23 This verse combines the metaphors of fighting (with me … against me) and farming (does not gather with me scatters). Neutrality with respect to Jesus is not possible.

Study Questions:
- The 2nd takeaway was, "BOW up or BOW down." We can either bow up to God or bow down to him. Those are our only two choices. There is no third option! No neutrality or half-way in. Are there times that it could be said of you that you "bow up" to God and go your own way? In what areas of your life do you, by your actions, refuse to bow down to Him?
- We can all be tempted to do what the "crowds" did and go our own way, choose our own version of the truth. Brandon talked on Sunday about the choice we all have to make... to either trust God and His ways and build our lives on His Word OR to commit idolatry. There is no my truth or your truth, only THE Truth. Where in your life might you be exchanging the truth for a lie? Where are you choosing your ways over His? What idols might need to be torn down?
Pray:
- That you would bow down to God daily.
- That you would never exchange the Truth for a lie.
This Week's City 7:
Try to commit to memory!
3. Why did Jesus have to die on the cross? Since “all have sinned” and the “wages of sin is death,” Jesus had to die on the cross to pay the fine for my sin so I could be right with God.
