Hello This is a Test

Friday Devo

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 119
9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to your word.
10 With my whole heart I seek you;
let me not wander from your commandments!
11 I have stored up your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.
12 Blessed are you, O Lord;
teach me your statutes!
13 With my lips I declare
all the rules of your mouth.
14 In the way of your testimonies I delight
as much as in all riches.
15 I will meditate on your precepts
and fix my eyes on your ways.
16 I will delight in your statutes;
I will not forget your word.

Commentary from the ESV Study Bible:

119:9 young man. Cf. 34:11 and Prov. 2:1.
119:11 stored up your word in my heart. By careful memorization and pondering; cf. 119:97.
119:11 Having God’s word in the heart anticipates the new covenant (Heb. 8:10–13; 10:16–18).

Study Questions:

  • To know God's heart and his ways, you have to know his Word. This takes careful and consistent study. Over time, as you study and meditate and pray, your thoughts and perspectives will start to change. This leads to the renewing of your mind that Paul talks about in Romans 12. How consistent are you in the study of his Word? How can you up your game?

  • As we conclude our marriage series, "The Vow", we come to the vow of PURITY: I promise to give myself EXCLUSIVELY to my TWO. If you're single, it's this: Purity NOW paves the way to intimacy LATER. The essence of intimacy is exclusivity. Sexual sin, as we've discussed, can bring with it so much shame and hurt. Take some extra time to pray that our marriages would stay full of God-honoring passion. Pray that singles would be committed to purity until they find their TWO. Pray that God would heal wounds, whether in the past or recent.

Pray:

  • That you would know his Word.
  • That you would give yourself exclusively to your "two".

This Week's City 7:

Try to commit to memory!

7. How can I trust that the Bible is still God’s Word today? I trust the Bible is still God’s Word today because Jesus rose from the dead proving He was God and said His words would never pass away. Through the Holy Spirit, God inspired the writing of the Scripture, determined the canon of Scripture and protected the copying of Scripture so that we might know Him and worship Him to this day.
(Matthew 24:35; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:16-21; Revelation 22:18-19)
