Scripture:
Romans 15
26 For you see, the believers in Macedonia and Achaia have eagerly taken up an offering for the poor among the believers in Jerusalem. 27 They were glad to do this because they feel they owe a real debt to them. Since the Gentiles received the spiritual blessings of the Good News from the believers in Jerusalem, they feel the least they can do in return is to help them financially.

Commentary:
15:26 Christians from the Roman provinces of Macedonia and Achaia had gladly contributed to the collection. These provinces are roughly equivalent to northern and southern Greece today. This collection would include gifts from such cities as Philippi, Thessalonica, and Corinth.
15:27 they were pleased. The gladness of the Gentiles in providing for the needs of Jewish Christians is fitting. They stand in debt to the Jews, for they enjoy the spiritual blessings of the Jewish people and hence should happily assist them financially. Paul assumes that financial aid for needy Christians is a normal part of the Christian life.

Questions:
- Reflect on this quote from Francis Chan: "We have become dangerously comfortable—believers ooze with wealth and let their addictions to comfort and security numb the radical urgency of the gospel." Have you become all about comfort? Are you numb to the urgency of the gospel?
- Finally, we were challenged to give our all for HIM and THEM. First, it's all for Jesus. We give to the church in order to build the church in order to make the name of Jesus famous. And then we give all for THEM. We have been blessed with the Gospel so that those who have never heard will hear. We have been blessed with plenty so that we can be generous to those in need. What has God been speaking to you through this series? Is there anything that is keeping you from going all in? How is He leading you to respond?
Pray:
- That your heart would stay on fire for the mission.
- That God would lead you to a response to all He's shown you.
This Week's City 7:
Try to commit to memory!
7. How can I trust that the Bible is still God’s Word today? I trust the Bible is still God’s Word today because Jesus rose from the dead, proving He was God and said His words would never pass away. Through the Holy Spirit, God inspired the writing of the Scripture, determined the canon of Scripture and protected the copying of Scripture so that we might know Him and worship Him to this day.
