Hello This is a Test

Tuesday Devo

Scripture:

2 Peter 1
2 May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.

Commentary:

1:2 In his initial blessing of those to whom he writes, Peter mentions a recurring idea in the letter: true knowledge of God and of Jesus. Verse 2, like v. 1, points to the deity of Christ (cf. note on v. 1), for both God and Christ are the object of this knowledge.

Questions:

  • In verse 2, Peter talks about growing in our knowledge of God and Jesus. Growing in your knowledge OF Him produces hunger and passion FOR Him. We must love God with all our heart, soul and MIND! We have referred to this as "knowledge on fire." It isn't knowing things just to know them. It's a knowledge that makes you fall more in love with Him. Assess your relationship with Jesus. Can you truly say you LOVE Him? What is your level of passion for Jesus? If it's lacking, might it be because of your lack of pursuit of the knowledge of Him?

  • Growing in Him means you are changing, little by little, day by day, year by year. You don't grow automatically or by accident. You grow by spending time in pray and in the Word. What is your spiritual trajectory? Are you closer to Jesus now than you were last month or last year? If not, why not?

Pray:

  • That you would grow in your knowledge of Him.
  • That your heart would be set on fire for Jesus.

This Week's City 7:

Try to commit to memory!

1. Who is Jesus? I believe Jesus is God because Jesus said He is God and proved it by rising from the dead and appearing to His disciples, His brother James, 500 others at one time, and Paul.
