Scripture:
2 Peter 1
This letter is from Simon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ.
I am writing to you who share the same precious faith we have. This faith was given to you because of the justice and fairness of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior.

Commentary:
1:1 Simeon. A Hebrew spelling of Simon (cf. Acts 15:14). Peter, as an apostle of Jesus Christ, is writing to those who have a faith of equal standing, showing that all believers share equal privileges before God. This standing was accomplished by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ. “Righteousness” refers here to God’s saving righteousness, showing that faith is a gift from Jesus. Jesus is called “God and Savior,” making this one of the clearest NT declarations of the divinity of Christ.

Questions:
- Peter begins his 2nd letter reminding the reader of who he is. He WAS a fisherman, but now he is a "slave and apostle of Jesus Christ." He didn't always do everything right, but meeting and following Jesus changed his life! Jesus even changed his name. A true faith TRANSFORMS. Think back to what your life was like before you met Jesus. How have you changed? What are some of the ways your relationship with Jesus has transformed you? Spend some time thanking God for that transformation.
- When Jesus called Peter to follow Him, he left everything and went. Dropped his nets, left the fish. H walked away from the boat, his livelihood... everything. Completely all in with no backup plan. This is what it looks like to follow Jesus. Are you all in with him? Have you turned your back to your old way of life, or are you "one foot in, one foot out?"
Pray:
- That God would continue to transform you.
- That you would go all in with Him.
This Week's City 7:
Try to commit to memory!
1. Who is Jesus? I believe Jesus is God because Jesus said He is God and proved it by rising from the dead and appearing to His disciples, His brother James, 500 others at one time, and Paul.
