Hello This is a Test

Monday Devo

Scripture:

1 Peter 4
8 Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.

Commentary:

4:8–9 Enduring love for others testifies that a person is living in light of the future. True love covers a multitude of other people’s sins (Prov. 10:12). Where love abounds, offenses are frequently overlooked and quickly forgotten. Hospitality, much admired in both Greco-Roman and Jewish sources (cf. 1 Tim. 3:2; Titus 1:8), was much needed in an era when inns could be dangerous and unpleasant.

Questions:

  • Peter once again calls us to deep love for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Clayton said on Sunday that church should be a CONTACT sport. In other words, we should be very close in proximity. This means you have to let people into your life, get close to them and be honest and vulnerable.... which also means you could be hurt. How easy or hard is it for you to let people in? Do you tend to keep walls up with other Christians? Have hurts from the past kept you from opening up?

  • Getting plugged into a small group can be a big hurdle for many people. If God is calling you to get in a group, go to the connect form on the app and let us know you'd like more info! If you are already a part of a group, how can you go deeper relationally with them?

Pray:

  • That you would be willing to open up and be in relationships with other Christians.
  • That God would lead you to the right community of believers.

This Week's City 7:

Try to commit to memory!

4. Can a person be good enough to go to heaven? No. Because Jesus rose from the dead, proving He is God, I believe a person is saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
