Scripture:
1 Peter 3
15 Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. 16 But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ. 17 Remember, it is better to suffer for doing good, if that is what God wants, than to suffer for doing wrong!

Commentary:
3:15–17 Believers should always be ready to provide a rationale for their faith, but they should do so winsomely and righteously. And if they keep a good conscience, any accusations against them will prove groundless, and their accusers will be put to shame. It is sometimes God’s will that Christians suffer for doing good.

Questions:
- On Sunday, Brandon talked through a practical way to share with someone the logical reasoning behind the faith you have in Jesus. We don't have to take anything on blind faith alone. The disciples of Jesus didn't even do that. They didn't truly believe He was the Messiah until they saw Him risen from the dead. What does it do to your faith to know that God wants you to be convinced by reasonable, historical evidence of Christ's resurrection? Are you convinced?
- The three logical reasons we talked about on Sunday were the historical evidence for the resurrection, the astronomical odds of the fulfilled biblical prophecies about Jesus, and your personal story. These are things every single one of us can prepare ourselves with so that we will be ready if we need to explain ourselves. Take a minute and look through the message notes from Sunday. There are links there to learn more about all of these evidences. Find some time in the next couple of days to watch the videos and prepare yourself. Think through how you would briefly share your story and write it out. Do you REALLY want to be ready as Peter commanded us? Are you willing to put in the time?
Pray:
- That you would be more convinced than ever that Jesus rose from the dead.
- That God would give you the desire and discipline to learn what you need to learn so that you will be ready.
This Week's City 7:
Try to commit to memory!
1. Who is Jesus? I believe Jesus is God because Jesus said He is God and proved it by rising from the dead and appearing to His disciples, His brother James, 500 others at one time, and Paul.
