Commentary:
3:8–9 Finally, all of you provides a transition from the preceding specific instructions to a list of godly virtues that all believers are called to exemplify at all times. Those who bless others will receive a blessing from God, which Peter explains in the following verses.

Questions:
- Peter tells us that our general ATTITUDE towards people should be LOVE. Jesus said this is the way people will know we belong to Him. He gives us four examples of how we can show each other love. We are to have sympathy, show each other brotherly love, be tenderhearted towards one another, and have humility. Brotherly love means that we relate to our fellow Christ-followers as you would family... a brother or sister. This is a way deeper connection than merely an acquaintance at church. It should be HARD to walk away from family, yet so many people church hop around so casually. Have you developed relationships to this level at The City? How can you further invest in your brothers and sisters?
- Humility is the grease that keeps relationships running smoothly. Show me a conflict in any relationship and I'll show you an absence of humility. Humility isn't thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. It's putting others' needs above your own. It's to be like Jesus. What would those closest to you say about your level of humility? How can we humble ourselves on a daily basis so that God doesn't have to do it for us?
Pray:
- That you would root yourself in the family of God.
- That God would show you ways to humble yourself before Him.
This Week's City 7:
Try to commit to memory!
7. How can I trust that the Bible is still God’s Word today? I trust the Bible is still God’s Word today because Jesus rose from the dead, proving He was God and said His words would never pass away. Through the Holy Spirit, God inspired the writing of the Scripture, determined the canon of Scripture and protected the copying of Scripture so that we might know Him and worship Him to this day.
