Hello This is a Test

Scripture:

Psalm 33
13 The Lord looks down from heaven
and sees the whole human race.
14 From his throne he observes
all who live on the earth.
15 He made their hearts,
so he understands everything they do.
16 The best-equipped army cannot save a king,
nor is great strength enough to save a warrior.
17 Don’t count on your warhorse to give you victory—
for all its strength, it cannot save you.
18 But the Lord watches over those who fear him,
those who rely on his unfailing love.
19 He rescues them from death
and keeps them alive in times of famine.
20 We put our hope in the Lord.
He is our help and our shield.
21 In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
22 Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord,
for our hope is in you alone.

Commentary:

33:13–19 Reason 3: God’s Gaze Discerns All. The Lord sits enthroned high over the earth, but that does not make him distant; rather, he is so great that he observes all the deeds of mankind. Further, his eye … is on those who fear him, to care for them as a people (v. 18) and as individuals (v. 19).
33:20–22 Therefore We Hope in God. Each member of the faithful who sings this, and takes to heart the greatness and wonder of God, is enabled more and more to rest his soul on the Lord, confident that God’s plans will succeed in the earth.

Questions:

  • The Lord sees everything. He knows every heart. He is aware of all that is going on and is working in and through everything and everyone to accomplish His will. We should praise Him for the SECURITY of His WATCHFULNESS. We don't have to worry about what's going on the world because HE's worrying about it. How can you begin to increase your level of trust in God? What are some ways you've seen Him working, even when things seem chaotic?

  • The big idea from Sunday was to sing for JOY to the Lord of HOPE. Joyful praise, no matter the circumstance with your eyes fixed on the things to come, all the while remembering that you are a citizen of heaven first. What has God been speaking to you this week? What do you need to do or change?

Pray:

  • That you would remember you are a citizen of heaven first.
  • That you would learn to have joy, even when your life is hard.

This Week's City 7:

Try to commit to memory!

2. Are there sources outside the Bible that confirm the Biblical account of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead? Many Roman and Jewish historians have confirmed that the apostles died as martyrs for preaching that they saw Jesus risen from the grave. No one dies for something they know to be a lie.
